When you just want to count!


SCOPE Lite™ has all the function point counting functionality of SCOPE Classic full version but without the overhead of being a full metrics repository with Portfolio management and Benchmarking Metrics capability.

It is ideal for organizations who have limited budgets for function point counting and have started using Excel spreadsheets but find that they are limited in their usability, speed and reporting capability.  SCOPE Lite™ has all the smarts of a spreadsheet but without the frustrations of using a spreadsheet. It has the added benefits of sophisticated process and data modelling , cross-referencing and interactive reporting.  Allowing you to fully document all aspects of your count with underlying notes, counting assumptions and key words. Just import your existing Excel or FPW count into SCOPE Lite™ and continue counting today.

If in the future you find you need more sophisticated Function Point Count management capability and portfolio reporting, then you can aggregate all your counts into a single repository, along with your project metrics for your software portfolio by purchasing one or more user licenses for the classic edition of SCOPE. Ie. SCOPE Professional™ or SCOPE Corporate™ edition.  Any databases created in SCOPE Lite™ can be accessed and maintained by users with a classic edition of SCOPE.

SCOPE Lite™ user license can be upgraded at any time to a full Classic Edition and all your existing data is instantly available.
  • SCOPE Lite™ is ideal for:
    • Novice Users :  students or organizations who have just starting function point counting or are on limited budgets.  It allows you to get started with function point counting without making significant financial outlays.
    • Adhoc Users : people who only function point count intermittently for adhoc projects and do not need the full metrics repository functionality and portfolio management capability of SCOPE Classic.
    • Experienced Users : Organizations with a sophisticated metrics program that has many satellite ‘counters’ and their central repository is managed by one or more Metrics team members.  The Metrics team repository manager can use SCOPE Classic to snapshot a Release to a database for counting by a counter with SCOPE Lite™ . When the count is completed, the metrics manager just imports it back from the SCOPE Lite™ database into the master repository.
  • SCOPE Lite™ has a fully Multilingual interface - all screens, messages and reports can by dynamically changed to the language of your choice - includes English, Portuguese, Dutch, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish etc, making it the ideal too for global implementations.
